How We Work

Strategy first. Camera second.
There's a reason so much video content doesn't perform the way businesses hope it will.

It gets made before anyone has answered the questions that actually matter. Who is this for? What do we want them to feel? What do we want them to do next? Where will they see it, and why will they stop scrolling?

At Testwood Creative, we don't pick up a camera until those questions have clear answers. That's not a rule we impose - it's just what it takes to make video that works.

The two ways we work

There's no one-size-fits-all here. But there is one non-negotiable. Every project we take on starts with strategy. How we get there depends on where you're starting from.

Model 1 — You bring the strategy, we bring the video
You're a marketing agency with a client who needs video. You've already done the discovery, mapped the strategy, and know exactly what the video needs to achieve. You just need a production partner you can trust to execute it — someone who gets a brief, shows up prepared, and delivers. That's this model.

We come in at the production stage, work closely with your strategy, and handle everything from shoot day through to final delivery. Your client gets a great experience. You get video that fits the campaign you've built. And your relationship with your client gets stronger.

Model 2 — We help build the strategy together
You're a business that knows you need video but doesn't yet have a marketing partner in place — or you're an agency whose client needs both strategic direction and production. That's this model.

We start by helping identify the right strategic partner for your goals — someone who can map out the thinking, define the audience, and plan how the video reaches the people it's meant for. Once that foundation is in place, we move into production. It takes a little longer to get to shoot day, but the results are worth it.

What shoot day actually looks like
By the time we arrive on location, the hard thinking is already done. That means shoot day can be what it should be — focused, calm, and even enjoyable.

Sherry handles the camera, lighting, and sound. Carolyn runs the production — the questions, the conversation, and the process of making sure you say what you mean and mean what you say on camera. Between the two of us, we've spent decades in high-pressure, deadline-driven video environments. We know how to get what we need without making it feel like work.

Most clients tell us the shoot was the part they were most nervous about — and the part they ended up enjoying most.

After the camera goes away
Editing isn't just cutting footage together. It's where the story gets shaped. We edit with the strategy in mind — what's the arc, what's the moment, what makes someone keep watching. You'll receive a first cut with clear notes, a straightforward revision process, and a final delivery that's ready to go where it needs to go.

We don't disappear after the shoot. We stay involved until the video is doing its job.

Wondering if this approach is right for your project?
Let's have a conversation. We'll ask good questions, listen carefully, and tell you honestly whether we're the right fit.
